The policy of the company is to achieve and maintain conditions of work, which are safe, and healthy for all employees, so far as is reasonably practicable. The company's activities will be conducted with appropriate safeguards against exposing either employees or other persons to risks to their health and safety.
Obligation
To this end the company accepts an obligation to actively seek a reduction in the incidence of accidents, dangerous occurrences and hazards to safety or health, and to comply with all relevant legislation and codes of practice. To make financial provision to meet such requirements and to promote safe working practices by the following:
- Ensuring that hazards are identified, risks assessed and safe systems of work designed and applied.
- Making the working environment safe and without risks to health.
- Realistically combating such hazards as cannot be eliminated, by making available such protective clothing, equipment or devices as are required to protect against these hazards.
- Arranging regular inspections of plant, machinery, workplace and processes by competent persons.
- Providing such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to achieve safe working practices, thereby ensuring the safety and health of all employees. To bring to the notice of those who supervise, their special responsibility for safe working.
Seeking the active involvement of all employees in the Company's efforts to promote health and safety at work.
- Always considering actual and potential risks to persons not in the Company employment, but who may be affected by its operations with the same care and attention as is given to the Company's own employees.
- Regularly reviewing Company policies, operating procedures and instructions and revising as appropriate in accordance with knowledge and changing circumstances.
CPD recognizes that for successful health and safety management there must be several key elements in place and functional, viz: Policy, Organization Structure, Planning and Implementation, Performance Measurement, Performance Audit, and Ongoing Development.
The Company will provide, as far as is practical, a safe and healthy working environment for its employees and others within its offices and on construction sites.
The Company will action and encourage employer/employee consultation on health and safety matters whether they be office or site based.
Training
A primary objective for the health and safety of all employees will be the provision of relevant information and training to improve individual competency in health and safety aspects of their works, whatever their position within the company.
The Company adopts the principle that all accidents are preventable and requires that hazard analysis is undertaken, utilizing expert advice as necessary, during plant design and installation phases to determine an assessment of the risk and enable the introduction of prevention or control measures. The high standards of safety consciousness that this principle demands imposes a strict discipline on everyone involved. This health and safety policy describes the means by which we achieve our objective.
While recognizing that the ultimate responsibility for the health and safety policy is that of the directors, its implementation has been delegated to the executive, senior managers and office/construction site management. It is required that all employees are given notice of the policy and any revisions to it and therefore are made aware of the importance to care for themselves and others, together with the requirement to co-operate with the company in fulfilling its legal obligations.
The directors and management of CPD confirm their commitment to the health and safety standards detailed in this policy document to the same level as company productivity, quality standards and profitable performance. They recognize that health and safety form an essential part of the company operation and firmly believe that a systematic approach, aimed at achieving a high standard, is indispensable to the success of any modern organization.
